Welcome to the premier global trail running circuit that brings together the best of the best in races and runners 🏃, spanning all corners of the globe 🌍. What's the ultimate goal ? 🏆 The rules of the game are simple: to participate in one of the races, you just need to earn points by finishing one (or more) labeled UTMB World Series Events and UTMB World Series Majors and having a valid UTMB Index for the desired distance. These points, called Running Stones, act like tickets to the UTMB Finals, which are the three must-do races in Chamonix: UTMB, CCC, OCC. Easy, right ? 😏
🔹 Important Note ⚠️
Running Stones are valid forever ⌛, but at least one point must be less than 2 years old for all of them to be usable 🗓️. In simple terms, your points accumulate over the seasons in your UTMB account 🏃, like saving money in a bank. For instance: To take part in a race in Chamonix in 2026, you need at least 1 Running Stone earned in 2025 or 2026. Got it?
🔹 Final Remark ☝️
It's a bummer, but that's the way it is: the UTMB World Series Qualifiers and the UTMB Finals do not allow you to earn Running Stones ! 🏁
🔹 4 Categories of UTMB Labeled Races 📝
To earn Running Stones, you must participate in UTMB-labeled races on the global circuit 🏔️. The UTMB defines 4 categories based on different "kilometers-effort" (a combination of distance and elevation gain 📈):
➡️ For the daring: 100M, over 170 km-effort
➡️ For the ambitious: 100K, races between 100 and 169 km-effort
➡️ For the reasonable: 50K, events between 50 and 99 km-effort
➡️ For the cautious: 20K, races ranging from 20 to 49 km-effort
What's a kilometer-effort? For example, imagine a race of 50 km with a positive elevation of 2,500 m 📈. This race equates to 75 km-effort because we add 1 km to the distance for every 100 m of positive elevation gain ↗️. So in our example: 50 km + (2,500 mD+ / 100) = 75 km-effort. The key takeaway is that the 4 categories of UTMB-labeled races are not based solely on distance but also consider the difficulty 🥵.

A Global Circuit with 4 Types of Events
The UTMB-labeled events fall into the following categories:
🔹 UTMB World Series Qualifiers: Numerous races around the world
🔹 UTMB World Series Events: Around forty international races
🔹 UTMB World Series Majors: 3 continental finals
🔹 UTMB Finals: The grand event in Chamonix
If you're aiming for the big finale in Chamonix ⛷️, keep in mind that UTMB World Series Majors earn you twice the Running Stones compared to Events 👊.
