Dolomiti Extreme Trail
We know why you're here! It's for the children's race of 2.5 km, right? ๐
No way you came here to get information about the incredible ๐, massive ๐, legendary ๐ and challenging Dolomiti Extreme Trail... ๐ Why? Well, because you need to be seriously motivated to want to participate in any of the other distances offered: 11 km, 22 km, 35 km, 55 km, 72 km, and 103 km. Okay, we admit, it's not just about the giants ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ, but also some charming short distances! ๐ค Now, the question is which one you'll choose to explore the Dolomites ๐๏ธ. Yes! It's truly in Forno Di Zoldo, located in Veneto, in Northern Italy ๐ฎ๐น where you'll have the joy of running. What more can we say? Bellissimo! ๐ค
Since its first edition in 2013 ๐, the Dolomiti Extreme Trail has evolved to become a must-attend event in the boot-shaped North of the country. Mountain lovers will be thrilled ๐ฅฐ to participate in this trail nestled in nature ๐ฟ, where the courses have been expertly crafted ๐งโ๐ซ. โ ๏ธ However, beauty comes at a price: the courses are steeply elevated and extremely technical ๐ฎโ๐จ. The 103 km route, for example, includes 7,150 mD+ and will take you up to the summits forming the natural backdrop of the Val di Zoldo. The same goes for the 72 km (5,500 mD+) and 55 km (3,800 mD+), which are less extensive but just as demanding, requiring participants to have a good trail experience ๐จโ๐ฆณ. Fortunately, there are more accessible distances too! You can opt for the 35 km, 22 km (1,300 mD+) or the 11 km (700 mD+). Feeling relieved? ๐ค
Since all hard work deserves a reward ๐ฐ, your efforts will be recognized in style! Indeed, a treasure trove of prizes awaits you, motivating you to push your limits ๐โโ๏ธ. The 22 km, 55 km, 72 km, and 103 km will respectively earn you 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 ITRA points. Not bad, right? ๐ But wait, it gets better for the competitor in you because you will also snag 20K, 50K, and 100K UTMB index qualifiers! ๐ If the competition wasn't held under the lovely June weather โ๏ธ, it might almost feel like Christmas ๐. Speaking of gifts ๐, the champions ๐ of the longest distance, the 103 km, will also receive a full package to participate in the Saucony El Cruce. This challenge, taking place in the Andes, between Argentina ๐ฆ๐ท and Chile ๐จ๐ฑ, is a 100 km journey ๐ฎ over three days in the South American wilderness ๐ฆ. Let's hope they understand some Italian over there! ๐ Finally, the races serve as qualifiers for the Alpe Adria Trail Cup, which offers a cash prize ๐ต to the top three men and women in the two existing categories: โTrailโ (which includes the DXT 22k and 55k) and โUltraโ (which includes DXT 72k and 103k) ๐ค.
"What makes these races special?", you wonder ๐ค. We'll tell you: they have several charming assets. Firstly, and obviously, they take place in the high mountains of the Dolomites, a region declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They allow you to explore the trails and the vast pine forests ๐ฒ that compose the area. Remaining away from mass tourism, the Val di Zoldo has stayed wild ๐ป and thus offers a preserved course, through unspoiled woods ๐ชต, incomparable rock formations, and vast screes ๐งโโ๏ธ. A completely natural race awaits you, filled with small streams ๐ and also steep slopes ๐. Last but not least, the 72 km and 103 km are night races ๐ that will provide you with a unique perspective and add a magical and surreal atmosphere to your trail.
So, we'll see you next June in Forno Di Zoldo, for a batch of extremely delightful events ๐.
