In the Ultra X family, I choose Tanzania! 🃏 Once again, an ultra-trail accessible to all runners looking for unique adventures 💫.
This time, we're heading to Tanzania 🇹🇿, in the city of Moshi, the land of the big five! Yes, this East African country boasts incredibly rich flora and fauna 🏞️. Among them are the kings of the savanna: the lion 🦁, rhinoceros 🦏, elephant 🐘, African buffalo 🐃, and leopard! 🐆 Impressive, right? Well, you're not here for a safari, but it's almost the same deal, so here's the plan: 5 days of running, between 30 and 58 km! 🥵 It's a tough one. The race is recognized in the 100K category of the UTMB index 💪. No worries, you can choose your own pace; there are checkpoints every 10 km 📍 and you have 2.5 to 3 hours to cover each segment, so you can take it easy 🤙. We recommend arriving before Saturday to be in top shape! On Sunday, the briefing will be at 9 AM, and all participants must be present! 🙌 After that, transportation will take you to the Namalok Nature Reserve 🌾 where you'll embark on the first leg of this wild ultra-trail! 🤪 This reserve is protected from illegal activities like poaching or cutting down certain trees.
A real highlight of the race is the trails on the famous Kilimanjaro! 🗻 In other words, the highest mountain in Africa. The stages will also take you through less challenging parts, like in my forest 🌳, near the lakes, and in the savanna! 🦴 We can see you bounding like an antelope! 🦌 At the end of each day, a campsite will be waiting for you to help you recover for the next day. These campsites are chosen to highlight the local wonders! On site, you can benefit from osteopathic care and physiotherapy in case of any issue or just to help you recover! 🔥
On the last day, after you conquer the final km, you'll be treated to a fantastic BBQ (well-deserved) and enjoy activities that will accompany the awards ceremony! 🏅
Checkpoints are placed every 10 km. You'll have a time cut-off of 2.5 to 3 hours to reach each checkpoint, depending on the difficulty of the course.
