Welcome back! It's your thirst for new adventures that brought you here! ๐ค You won't be disappointed. This time, we're inviting you to push your limits by participating in an Ultra Trail! Don't worry, we know the word can be a bit intimidating! ๐ But that's completely wrong. With the Ultra X Rwanda, the organization offers runners the chance to have an unforgettable experience in stunning locations around the world ๐บ๏ธ. To experience it, head to the districts of Burera and Muzanze in Rwanda ๐ท๐ผ. There are two race options: a 110 km trail over 2 days, or a 50 km trail in a single day ๐ช. Both distances are recognized in the UTMB Index, in the 50K and 100K categories ๐ .
This race will take you off the beaten path, offering a unique experience in breathtaking landscapes ๐ฑ. On your route, you'll pass through the Volcanoes National Park. This park is home to the last mountain gorillas in their natural habitat ๐ฆ. Of course, there are volcanoes, which you probably guessed! The park features five of them: Karisimbi, Visoke, Muhabura, Gahinga, and Sabyinyo ๐. In addition to the park, you can also discover the Twin Lakes: Lake Ruhondo and Lake Burera. Unless you're already a Rwanda expert, this is a beautiful country you'll be able to explore, with its traditional coffee ๐ฑ and banana fields ๐, diverse vegetation, and endless hills that will surely capture your heart! ๐ฅฐ The race will start at the Lake Ruhondo dock at sunrise ๐ . To prepare for your race, we strongly recommend arriving in the country at least two days before the event begins ๐ฌ. The time zone difference and travel might leave you a bit groggy! As for the rest of the schedule, it's quite simple: on Friday, buses will leave from the city center of Kigali, the capital, at around 10 AM ๐. Once you arrive at the race venue, you can register between 2 PM and 5 PM, and then participate in the pre-race briefing ๐ฝ. Saturday is the big day, shuttles will transport your bag with all the necessary gear for the night ๐, while you head to the starting line with the other competitors! ๐โโ๏ธ
For runners in the second stage, it starts at the gorilla camp near Kinigi at 7:00 AM! ๐บ It's along this route that you'll get a view of the Twin Lakes. The finish line ambiance promises to be festive ๐ฅ, as the organization encourages the many participants to support the rest of the runners in a spirit of camaraderie and sharing! ๐ค To wrap up the Ultra X Rwanda in style, festivities will take place near the shores of Lake Ruhondo starting from 6 PM ๐, with an awards ceremony and an all-you-can-eat buffet to reward all the effort! ๐ฅ
