Calling all adventurers and challenge seekers: Ultra X Scotland is back to offer you an unparalleled athletic and sensory experience 🤩. Set amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Highlands in Scotland 🏴, this legendary race combines extreme effort, a deep dive into nature, and a touch of myth thanks to its iconic setting around Loch Ness 🐉. Yes, Loch Ness... Hopefully, you might even catch a glimpse of Nessie! 🦕 For this made in Scotland event, you can choose from several distances! ⚡ The longest: Ultra X 110 (110 km over two days, of course), featuring an impressive loop starting from Inverness to Dores, split into two stages: 60 km on Saturday and 50 km on Sunday 👣. You will follow the historic trails of the Great Glen Way and South Loch Ness Trail, winding through forests and past waterfalls 🌲. Want an extra with this menu? A side? Sure, panoramic views of the lochs, plus a camping overnight in Fort Augustus to recharge! 🔌 If you're not quite ready for ultra-trails (which we totally understand), you can opt for the 60 km 👌. You'll start alongside your 110 km comrades on Saturday heading to Dores! 🏃♂️ Looking for something shorter? Go for the 50 km the next day. This run is also the second stage of the ultra-trail, perfect for a condensed but equally intense challenge! 🤯 Crossing Loch Ness is on the agenda, but watch out for the monster! And finally, the junior race of the series, the 25 km race, starts on Sunday from Glender Gite in Foyers. Even though this distance is shorter, it's no less extraordinary! 🥳
The emotions will be high and will make you want to return. With ascents reaching up to 699 m 🗻 (Meall Fuar-mhonaidh, the highest point of the race), Ultra X Scotland is as much a test of your endurance as it is a celebration of your resilience (we're true poets) 🔮. But what’s incredible about the Ultra X races is that they are always intense, with long distances, yet remain accessible to many types of runners 🔥. The cut-off times, set at every 10 km, need to be passed every 2.5 hours, giving you plenty of leeway! 🧨 Bonus: the races are recognized in the 100K, 50K, and 20K categories of the UTMB Index! 🏆
After pushing your limits, take some time to explore the region's wonders 🏰. Visit the iconic Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness. Or dive into history with the Culloden Battlefield, a site brimming with emotion. Looking for relaxation after the challenge? 🛁 Head over to the Inverness Botanic Gardens for a peaceful walk, or plan a picnic at Moray Firth to watch the dolphins! 🐬
