For this new edition of the Trail en Côte-Rôtie, we invite you to explore the vineyards 🍇 of one of the most exceptional wines heritage: the Côte-Rôtie in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region 🇫🇷.
But before you savor it in the literal sense 😋, you will do so figuratively, as you must conquer the elevation changes 📈 of the surrounding vineyards under the beautiful fall colors 🍂. To do this, you can choose from several routes tailored to your abilities 😌. The program includes: 3️⃣ trails of 13 km, 25 km, and 46 km as well as 2️⃣ hikes of approximately 10 km and 15 km. Additionally, the organizers have planned some fun activities for beginners. Children/juniors 👶 can also compete in one of the 4️⃣ races specially designed for them! So whether you are young or old, a beginner or an expert, there’s something for everyone, and it’s almost as satisfying as enjoying a good glass of wine! 🍷
Embark on one of the 5️⃣ routes starting from Ampuis to have the chance to weave between the plots of the Syrah grape and discover the two slopes of the appellation: La Côte Brune 🖤 and La Côte Blonde 💛. Legend has it that Lord Maugiron 👑 divided his estate between his two daughters, one blonde and the other brunette. That way, no one would be jealous! Will you be able to tell them apart when you taste them? 🤔 And yes, because you can also organize cellar tours in the area to discover local treasures during tastings offered by the winemakers 🤤. But remember, drink responsibly! Or at least, have a full stomach 🤰🏻. On that note, the organizers have thought of everything, with a whole exhibitors’ village where you can find food trucks 🚚 to keep you fed throughout the day 🍽. And after the (physical and digestive) challenges, maybe you’ll have time to visit Vienne, the neighboring town, and enjoy its unique Gallo-Roman heritage ⚔️.
These races offer you the chance to exercise in a unique setting 🌿 while providing fun, gastronomic, cultural, and engaging activities throughout the weekend 🥰. You can cap off your efforts with a wine that has been awarded multiple times and is over 2,000 years old 😮. Not a fan of wine? No problem! You might enjoy visiting one of the region's historical monuments, from the Saint-Baudille Church in Ampuis ⛪️, which houses the relics of the patron saint of winegrowers, to the Saint-Pierre Museum 🖼️ in Vienne, known as the « city of Art and History ». And if you love the atmosphere, you can always come back in January to visit the Ampuis Wine Market! 🏪
⚠️ Excessive consumption of alcohol is harmful to your health; please drink responsibly.
Families will be thrilled as they get the opportunity to sign up their young athletes for one of the four races available for children/juniors 👨👩👧👦.
