Lisbon, city of seven hills, azulejos, and fado... But also, for a weekend, the playground for a marathon that's 100% natural and 200% challenging! 🔥 Here, it's not about just jogging along the Tagus River admiring the yellow trams. Oh no. We invite you in April to run through the largest green lung of the capital, the Parque Florestal de Monsanto.
Your calves will quickly understand that in Lisbon, it's all about ups and downs. And more ups 🥵. The start and finish lines are set in the Parque Eduardo VII, the largest park in the heart of the city 🌳. On one side, a panoramic view of Lisbon, on the other, a promise: a course as breathtaking as it is demanding 😬. No traffic jams, no red lights, just you, nature, and an elevation gain that will test your love for running. If you've signed up for the marathon, prepare for a 42 km journey full of character 🇵🇹. With 1 020 mD+, it's not just a leisurely city tour, but a true wild escape into Monsanto, the "lung" of the capital. And then, finishing at Parque Eduardo VII with the city as your backdrop, it's quite the stylish conclusion, don't you think? For thrill-seekers, the half-marathon is a gem ⭐️. 21 km, 510 mD+, and a perfect mix of climbs, descents, and long, rolling sections. If shorter distances appeal to you more than long speeches, then the 12 km is your ally 💨. No time to dawdle: 290 mD+, a few climbs to wake you up ⚡️, descents to free your legs 😮💨, and a finish line where you can proudly say you conquered Monsanto 🏅 (and no, not the company, though that's quite noble too 🙃). For those who prefer to take their time admiring the beautiful scenery without ending in a sweat, the 8 km walk is the perfect alternative 🌿. With 320 mD+, it's a deserved stroll offering exceptional views of the city and its surroundings 😎. Plus, it gives you time to spot the best pastelarias to stop by afterward. Because, hey, walking works up an appetite too...🫣
After all that climbing, sweating, and puffing like an old Electrico 28 tram, it's time to reward yourself like a true Lisboeta 👏. Head to Belém, where a line of waiting patrons leads you to the ultimate prize: a crispy, warm pastel de nata 💛. To celebrate properly, a glass of vinho verde is a must, fresh and sparkling, enough to revive those tired legs (drink responsibly, of course 🍷). If you want to play the post-marathon tourist, head to Alfama, with its narrow streets where the climbs remind you that your legs still have some juice 💥. Check out the Belém Tower, take a cliché photo in front of the Jerónimos Monastery 📸, and if your legs simply won't cooperate, hop on a tuk-tuk for a quick VIP tour 🚖.
So, are you ready to trade asphalt for trails and make your calves sing louder than a Barcelos rooster? 🐓
Ready to take on the legendary distance? The marathon promises an unforgettable race set amidst beautiful natural surroundings 🌿. With over 1000 meters of elevation, this course will challenge your legs while offering spectacular views of the Portuguese capital. Starting majestically from Parque Eduardo VII 🇵🇹, you'll dive into the Parque Florestal de Monsanto, Lisbon’s true green lung 🌳. Rest assured, the city is never far away! Between climbs, you might just hear the soulful strains of fado carried by the wind 🎶.
If you're seeking a serious challenge without committing to a full marathon, the half marathon is perfect for you! 💥 You'll face 510m elevation gain in a race that perfectly blends effort and enjoyment 🤩. You'll run through the same stunning landscapes as the marathon runners, immersing yourself in the greenery of the Parque Florestal de Monsanto 🌳. With challenging ascents and descents, your cardio will be tested, but the festive atmosphere and the cheering crowd will carry you to the finish line 🎉.
Looking for a race that's accessible yet full of character? This 12 km race is just what you need! 🔥 With 290 mD+, you'll definitely feel those hills, but they'll just add a bit of spice to your adventure 🌶️. After starting in the impressive Parque Eduardo VII, you'll dive into the forest paths of the Parque Florestal de Monsanto 🌲, where the shade from the trees will keep you cool. Whether you're there to set a personal best or simply to enjoy a race in a stunning setting, one thing's for sure: you'll cross the finish line with a big smile... and maybe even a temptation to go around again! 😏
