Marathon de Lausanne
Looking for a new challenge to conquer, feeling the itch to travel again? 🧳 We're taking you to the Lausanne Marathon in Switzerland! 🇨🇭 Nestled in the stunning Canton of Vaud, this major city by the shores of Lake Geneva 👒 boasts an exceptional urban course lined with iconic landmarks 👌. Indeed, Lausanne is a must-visit in this beautiful Swiss region. But before we delve deeper into that, let's introduce you to the race formats ✍️. The event offers several formats to allow as many people as possible to participate 👏: 10km walking, Nordic walking, or road running along with half-marathon and marathon distances 🏃♂️. Impressive, right? It's quite rare to find a city race that combines exceptional monuments with lakeside views 💎. Did you know? Lake Geneva, shared between France 🇫🇷 and Switzerland, is the largest lake in the Alps 🤩.
And after the race? As a French-speaking city, Lausanne has so much to offer you and your loved ones! For example, you can enjoy the panoramic view from the Sauvabelin Tower 😎, dive into the history of sports at the Olympic Museum 🤼♂️, or relax with your family by Lake Geneva with a well-deserved picnic 🥪. If you're interested in artistic culture, don't miss a visit to the Museum of Art Brut 🎨. And for a moment of natural beauty and tranquility, what's better than a peaceful stroll in the city's Botanical Garden 🪴? Home to nearly 4000 alpine, medicinal, carnivorous, and tropical plants 🌷.
Lausanne is also famed for hosting the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee, as well as the Olympic Museum. But the old town, with its medieval streets lined with shops and a richly decorated 12th-century Gothic cathedral, will also captivate you 👀. It's perched above the city, just a short distance from the Lake 🏊♀️. The 19th-century Palais de Rumine houses the fine arts and science museums ⚖️. Around Lausanne, you can also have fun, whether you choose one of the country's other three cities, namely Geneva, Berne, or Zurich, or if you spend time in the Swiss Jura 🧀. Mountain enthusiasts ⛰️ are of course invited to explore Switzerland, in summer ☀️ and winter ❄️ alike. Skiing and hiking 🥾 are national sports. Who knows? Maybe one day you'll cross paths with Marco Odermatt on the slopes! ⛷️
So, ready to experience something extraordinary in the stunning setting of Lausanne? 🕺 We'll see you at the Lausanne Marathon then! You can be sure that the race won't be your only record, the unforgettable experience you're going to have, will be too! 🏅
The race will start in two groups from the Place de Milan at 10:05 AM ⌚️, just below the park of the same name 🌳. As you pass by the Olympic park and its museum, you might just get that extra boost of energy... ⚡️ From Pully to Paudex, Lutry, and Cully, you'll swiftly move through all the towns lining the lake. You'll pass by several beaches that might tempt you to dive in 🏖️. In Cully, you'll take a brief tour of the town and make a few zigzags before heading back along the lake. The 20 km mark will be reached in Vevey, where you'll turn around just past the Little Eiffel Port. The return to Lausanne follows the same path, giving you familiar landmarks. Just before the 40th km, the course will veer towards the quay of Ouchy and the port 🚢 for the finish line at Place Bellerive. It's located right next to the Parc Emile-Henri-Jaques Dalcroze, with its beaches... 🏖️ Enjoy the delight!
For half-marathon runners 🏃♂️, the race will also kick off at Place de Milan, but this time at 8:40 AM, right below the park. You'll head towards the town of Cully for an exceptional city to city run! The course runs along Lake Geneva, one of Europe's most beautiful lakes, and passes through lakeside towns like Pully, Paudex, Lutry...
It's in the village of Cully that you'll make your turnaround, not without having enjoyed the local beauty and charm. The return to Lausanne follows the same route, giving you familiar landmarks. Like the marathon runners, the finish line is at Place Bellerive, right next to the Parc Emile-Henri-Jaques Dalcroze and its beaches! 🏁
Runners, walkers, and Nordic walkers will all share the same course. We may not move at the same speed, but our passion unites us! ❤️🔥 This passion is even more spectacular against the backdrop of the majestic Lake Geneva, which will accompany you throughout your race 🏃. The race will start at Place de Milan. After descending Avenue Denantou, you'll reach the lakeshore and then head towards the town of Pully, located 3 km away.
The turnaround point towards Lausanne will be at Paudex and on the Lavaux road, making for a double city-to-city challenge. Between km 7 and km 8, you'll make a left turn towards the Quai d'Ouchy and its port 🚢. Like the runners of the marathon and half-marathon, the finish line will be at Place Bellerive, next to the Parc Emile-Henri-Jaques Dalcroze and its sandy beaches! 🏁
