The event in a few words
Early is on time, late is unacceptable 🕘. You know the saying, right? So make sure to set your smartphone 📱 to the correct time to avoid being late for the Generali Geneva Marathon 🤓. Because, yes, being late in the land of watchmakers is a bit of a faux pas! Come on, my Finisher, bring your best watch ⌚️ to time your performance and don't waste a second exploring the world's watchmaking capital 🏃🏼♂️.
So, in the month of May, you'll need to really showcase your punctuality. The Generali Geneva Marathon takes place right in the heart of Geneva. Located in the western part of Switzerland 🇨🇭, this city nestled between a lake 🛶 and mountains ⛰️ will dazzle you. On the shores of Lake Geneva 🐟, surrounded by the Alps and the Jura mountains, Geneva also offers a stunning view of Mont Blanc. For a runner who loves outdoor sports like you, it couldn’t get any better! 🤩 As for the weather, be prepared for anything: during this time of year, temperatures start to rise 🌡️, but beware of the rain ☔️, which is still quite frequent before summer 😬.
Before you rush to the starting line, how about a course preview? You’ll see, there’s something for everyone, and that’s what makes this event so great 💪. Open to young 🧒 and old 👴, beginners and seasoned Finishers, and also to people with disabilities 🦽, inclusion and diversity are the key words of this event 🙌. But let’s get to the program: as you are a real Swiss army knife 🔪, we’re sure you’ll easily adapt to the various distances and find the right shoe watch. Of course, the main event 👸 is present: you can run the marathon solo or in a relay 🤝. But staying true to Swiss neutrality, we want to equally highlight all distances ⚖️. So if you’d rather ease into your first marathon, you can challenge yourself with the Geneva half marathon, which is also accessible to people with disabilities. Want to set a new personal best? ⏱ Try the 10 km race, which is also open to walkers 🚶🏻♂️. And for an event truly open to all, a 5 km race wraps up the program beautifully 🤩.
Know this: the Geneva marathon is all about the time. There's no time to waste ! 🥵 Thanks to its flat course, it’s one of the fastest marathons in Switzerland ⚡️. Each year, more than half of the runners set a new personal best 🏅. Could this be your year? Despite the speedy course that favors records, you’ll still have time to admire the beautiful scenery, blending city and nature 🍃. The first part of the race takes you through countryside roads, between fields 🌾 and amidst the vineyards 🍇, through the villages surrounding Geneva. After so many minutes of effort, you’ll start the second part of the route in all its beauty, right in the heart of Geneva. You’ll run along the shores of Lake Geneva, enjoying a breathtaking view of the alpine peaks, and you’ll finally perform your best final sprint on the Pont du Mont-Blanc 🌉, all while facing the famous Jet d’Eau 💦. Along the way, you’ll also get to admire the famous Parc la Grange 🌳, located by the lake: the largest park in the city, listed as a historical monument, and home to the impressive Villa la Grange 🤯. Feel free to come back after your race to relax and take a closer look! And if you choose the longer distances, you’ll even get to see the Monument Brunswick 🏛️. Dating back to the 19th century, this mausoleum was built in honor of Charles II, Duke of Brunswick, after his death. Trust us, you won’t be wasting any time at the Geneva marathon!
After covering all those kilometers, you'll definitely need some rest 💤. Our advice: a good night’s sleep (maybe sleep around the clock?), and you’ll be refreshed to enjoy the gentle Geneva lifestyle 😌. If you need to reset the clocks 🕰️ again, we recommend visiting one of the most famous Swiss watch museums, the Patek Philippe Museum. A real trip through time, this museum houses exceptional pieces symbolizing the Swiss craftsmanship developed over centuries. You can also stroll through the Jardin Anglais and admire its famous flower clock 🌼, or chill around the Geneva harbor. And if you still have some energy left, why not visit the old town and the Saint-Pierre Cathedral ? It offers an incredible view of the city, but you guessed it, you have to earn it 💪🏼. Are you ready to climb the 157 steps leading to the cathedral's towers? ⛪️
The Geneva Marathon is as delightful as Swiss chocolates 🍫. So without further ado, lace up your sneakers and dive into the experience! 😋
