The event in a few words

Ready to take on a major challenge? 🏃‍➡️ The Budapest Spring Half Marathon (Telekom Vivicitta) is eagerly waiting for you! 🏁 If you love running and enjoying beautiful sights, then the Pearl of the Danube is the perfect spot for your next half marathon 👀. Spoiler alert: this race takes place in Hungary during the spring, which means runners can expect mild and pleasant temperatures 🌺. Running along the Danube with beautiful sunshine, what more could you wish for? ☀️ This year, the event celebrates its 40th edition with no less than three races! 🎂

The main event, the highlight of the weekend: the half marathon 🤩. Great news for those who are still daunted by the famous 21.097 km distance, you can run it as a relay with two or three people 👯‍♀️. With family or friends, a relay is a great way to enjoy it together 🫶. The other two races are a 7 km and a 10 km. Both formats should appeal to hobbyists and clock-watchers alike! ⏱️ The three routes will let you discover the city from a new perspective 😎. You'll pass by a host of stunning monuments like the Hungarian Parliament, a must-visit in Budapest 🥰. After that, you can take a look at the Chain Bridge, a magnificent bridge spanning the Danube 🌉. This bridge is somewhat the emblem of the city 🚨. Then, you'll come across the Fisherman's Bastion 🎣, the perfect spot for a panoramic view of Budapest! 🏙️ Rest assured that your efforts will be rewarded with such a route 😌. Between culture, heritage, and history, this event leaves nothing out ✨.

Speaking of leaving nothing out, we almost forgot to mention the culinary specialties of the Hungarian capital... 👩‍🍳 On the tasting menu, you'll have the delicious goulash! 🤤 This beef stew with vegetables will awaken your taste buds, just like Lángos 👄, a typical street food dish in the city 🌭. And to digest or as a dessert 🍰, we recommend visiting one of the city's many thermal baths 🛀. The most iconic are the Séchenyi thermal baths, form the largest thermal complex in Budapest 🤯.

As you can see, a multitude of activities await you to enjoy after the race 😜, make the most of it but don't forget to give it your all on race day! ⚡ Budapest will reward your efforts 🥇.

A few more words

Are you ready? The big start will take place from the Water Tower located on Margaret Island 🚩. This island is the heart of the race ❤️, positioned between Buda and Pest, overseeing nearly the entire course! 👀 Don’t worry, you won’t be running on the island itself but rather from the riverbank 🐟.

Get ready for a scenic route that will leave you in awe! 🤩 Your initial steps will be on the island, but soon you'll find yourself on solid ground 🌍. Early in your race, just before the 5 km mark, you'll encounter the stunning monument of the Hungarian Parliament 🏛️. Next, you'll see the Széchenyi Chain Bridge, an impressive bridge that spans the Danube River 🌉. The journey continues as you cross to the other side using the Liberty Bridge (Szabadság híd) 🤪. But hold on, the race isn't over, and you haven't claimed your freedom just yet 🗽. First, you'll need to make your way back up to Margaret Island 🌻. Around the Egyetemisták Park (a lush green park 🌿), you'll start the return journey, reaching the 10 km mark and feeling proud that half the race is behind you 💪. You'll continue your adventure, always alongside the Danube River, and by the 15 km mark, you'll catch sight of the Fisherman's Bastion 🎣. Good news, this is the perfect spot to enjoy a breathtaking view of the capital city! 🔭 And after admiring the magnificent sight of Budapest, you'll soon have the finish line in your sights as well, with just 5 km to go. We're counting on you to give it everything you've got ⚡.

Just a few meters left and you'll return to Margaret Island to cross the finish line 🔜. Congratulations, you are officially a finisher of a half marathon, a feat not everyone achieves 🎖️. Oh, and we have a little surprise for you... 🎁 Throughout the course, you'll encounter music bands and DJs, providing the perfect rhythm to keep you running 🎶.
