The Vienna Marathon 🇦🇹 takes place in the heart of Austria’s capital city. Since its inception in 1984, it has become the country's most renowned marathon, attracting no less than 30,000 runners from over 40 different countries 🌎. The capital hosts an impressive five events over two days! 😱 On Saturday, the city streets will welcome the 5 km race as well as junior and children’s races. On Sunday, participants can take part in the half marathon, relay marathon, and the traditional marathon events. This race is considered one of the finest in Europe. Its flat and easy road course is perfect for beginners! Although the weather is expected to be quite cool 🥶, with a bit of luck, it won't rain. Bring your raincoat just in case! ☔️
The events bring the city to life the whole weekend! 🎉 Local residents will be out in force to cheer on the runners! 👏 Expect the atmosphere to include signs, marching bands, and so much more… 🎶 Along the route, you'll see music groups performing 🥁. If you're not in a rush, why not take a moment to enjoy the festivities? 😏 There's nothing better than celebrating the festivities with a glass of Austria’s favorite beer, Gösser 🍺 (always enjoy responsibly)! After the race, unwind on the terrace of the famous Hotel Sacher 🏨, and indulge in its iconic Sachertorte, the renowned Viennese chocolate and apricot cake! 😋 Enjoy this treat, as the recipe is secret 🤫, known only to a select few pastry chefs at the hotel! We strongly encourage you to lace up your sneakers 👟 during your weekend. This time, to explore the city 🏙️. Vienna is a historically rich capital! 📖 Plan ahead, and you might be able to catch a performance at the city’s famous Opera House 🎤. You can also blend in with the tourists by visiting Schönbrunn Palace, Austria’s most visited attraction 🏰.
This year once again, the 5 km race is organized for a charitable cause. Five euros from each adult registration will be donated to "Run for a Tree". Last year, thanks to participant contributions, a new green space was created in the heart of the city 🌳. The junior and children’s races are also organized for charity. Since 2019, two euros from each registration have been donated to support the campaign "Jeder Meter zählt" by SOS-Kinderdorf 👨👧👦. Of the 41 editions so far, the 2019 event remains the most memorable! More than 40,000 runners from 125 different nationalities graced Austrian soil 🏃.
We're counting on you to do even better this year! 💪
