Welcome to the Czech Republic! 🇨🇿 Get ready for the latest edition of the Prague Half Marathon! How lucky you are that this 21 km race fits into your schedule, because this is one you definitely don't want to miss! 📍
The Czech Republic proudly showcases Prague, and rightly so. It’s a unique and stunning city that will likely be one of your top discoveries this year 🧳. The Prague Half Marathon is the perfect event if you want to combine sports and travel ✈️. The organizers have planned an incredible route through the city, showcasing its most iconic spots! ⚡ What to expect: start/finish in the Josefov district ✡️, crossing 4 city bridges 🌉, breathtaking views of the Vltava River 💦, and even a checkpoint by the Charles Bridge 😍. Plus, April offers excellent conditions for the Prague Half Marathon 🌞: not too hot, not too cold! But remember the old saying, "In April, don't shed a thread!" 🧣
This race wins the hearts 💓 and legs of many participants every year. Last year, there were over 11,000 participants! 🎽 And yes! In the Czech Republic, we know how to party! 🥁 The atmosphere is amazing and the variety of participants 🏃♂️ makes the competition warm and inviting. You'll find many champions aiming to break their records, as well as many runners just there for fun 🧈... in costume 🥸, with family, or friends! 😜 Choose your own goals, and you're sure to find joy! Don’t be surprised! The Prague Half Marathon is known for being extremely fast ⏱️. Even though the hills around the city are charming, you'll need to leave them out of this race! Otherwise, breaking records like Ethiopian runner Atsedu Tsegay's (58 minutes and 47 seconds) would be quite the challenge 🏆.
Lastly, just because you aim to be a speedster at the Prague Half Marathon doesn't mean you can't enjoy the city's legendary spots 📸. Here are some tips from us at Finishers (yes, we're playing travel agents here) 😜👉. For us, the must-sees include the Prague Castle 🏰. The best way to visit it is on foot, crossing the Charles Bridge 🌉. You'll be amazed by the architecture, the raw medieval vibe, the statues, and the dark stones 😉. But even before you get there, you'll be captivated by the beauty of the Old Town Square 🕰️, a favorite among tourists who come to admire the vibrant colors and varied styles. There’s also the Church of Our Lady before Týn and St. Nicholas Church, one Gothic and the other Baroque ⛪. And the icing on the cake? 🍒 You can savor Czech specialties. Our favorite menu 🍽️: a cesnečka soup as a starter 🥣, a guláš goulash for the main course 🥩, and, for dessert, the trdelník (a sweet grilled pastry 🍰) for those with a sweet tooth 🍪.
Ready to head to Prague? We can already picture ourselves there! 🥳
The Prague Half Marathon course is impressive 😳. It follows the same route as the Prague Marathon, but with 21 km less! Yes, you already knew that! 😆
To give you a quick summary: the race will start in the Josefov district, the Jewish Quarter ✡️. The start and finish lines are in the same location 🏁. You'll get to see both the center of Prague 🏙️ and its suburbs as you run north and then head south 🧭. There are 4 bridges along the route. The first is at km 2, the Palacky Bridge 🌉. This will take you to the west bank and up to the Legions Bridge 🪖, which crosses the island of Střelecký with its lush vegetation 🌿.
You'll then return to the same side of the river where you started and enjoy a 6 km round trip. Next, you'll cross the Manes Bridge. For the next 5 km, the route is straight 📏, allowing you to pick up speed 🚀. You'll loop around the Powder Tower, follow the riverbanks to the Botanical Institute, and take the Liben Bridge, guiding you on your final stretch to the finish! 🏁
