Vredestein 20 km de Paris
Paris, the city of lights, the city of love… 😍 The French capital, globally celebrated as one of the most charming cities, invites you this October 🗓️, to the Vredestein 20 km of Paris, a road race with a mission, offering you the opportunity to reclaim the most exquisite views of Western Paris 🏛. This legendary race, co-created in 1979 by an alliance between the Air Force and the City of Paris, will take place under the cool temperatures of early autumn 🍂. But worry not, with thousands of runners and its international flair 🌍 (with over 10% foreign participants), the atmosphere will be electrifying 👏. So, hurry up and grab your bib, you won't be disappointed 😉.
Boasting international, national, and silver athletics certifications, the event offers a single distance that’ll please everyone: a 20 km, on a highly smooth course 🚴🏼. This race can also be experienced as a virtual race ⌚️, with variations including a 5 km, a 10 km, and a 15 km, all connected and scheduled at different times of the year. Get ready, personal records are about to be shattered ⏱️! And thus, there's no need to watch your feet 👣, you'll have the luxury to enjoy the view as historic landmarks accompany you throughout your run 🤩. The more the merrier, which is why organizers have also arranged children's races 👦, offering several courses for the little Finishers, available both in person and virtually 🐣.
Now, to the course: you’ll have the privilege to run on the Paris Right Bank of the Seine, especially through the heart 💓 of Western Paris, exclusively reserved for this event, an opportunity that doesn’t come every day ! The race starts near the iconic Trocadéro Esplanade, shortly passing by the Seine's banks for a refreshing breeze 💦. The highlights include passing by the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower, the latter being visible for a great part of your journey, and also marking the finish line 🏁. More landmarks ahead, as you run towards the Grand Palais, the Place de la Concorde and its famed Obelisk, the Tuileries Garden with its beautiful fountains ⛲️, the aptly named Royal Bridge, and many more... We won’t spoil all the surprises 🎁. Time to pound the famed Parisian cobblestones! A true Parisian experience, just like we love 😁.
For green spaces 🍃, you’ll be spoiled with plenty of chlorophyll. You'll cover many kilometers through the famous Bois de Boulogne, where the majority oak trees 🌳 will refill you with oxygen 🌬️. Tennis enthusiasts, a detour by the Boulevard d’Auteuil, in front of the Roland-Garros site is also planned, for you to unleash your best smash on the most famous clay courts 🎾. A sensational course that’ll dazzle you with every color of the spectrum 🎨, "Emily in Paris" has nothing on this 😼.
When it comes to organization and security at the event, no worries there. You’ll be well looked after by a seasoned organizational team ⚙️ (like wine, the event gets better with age 🍷) and a significant security presence. Plus, no elbowing required during the first and last kilometers, thanks to a start divided into more than 20 waves launching every 3 minutes. They’ve thought of everything! 🙏 You’ll also enjoy the festive mood with musical entertainments 🎶 cheering you on throughout the course 🥁. This race is also a great opportunity to meet others, share your passion, and perhaps make connections with partners 🤝. Indeed, the organizers are hosting a village for two days, welcoming over 50 exhibitors and 35,000 visitors, all in a friendly and jovial atmosphere 🥰.
After all that effort, Paname (slang for Paris) will offer a plethora of activities to dive into, alone or with friends. Instead of suggesting the usual must-sees like the Louvre Museum or the Luxembourg Gardens, why not explore some of the capital’s offbeat spots 😜? We recommend checking out the Cathedral Building on Rue Réaumur, built during the first facade competition in the 19th century. Another quirky spot is the National Institute of Art History Library or the Nicolas Flamel House, home to the famous Parisian alchemist 🧪. For gastronomy, the Parisian capital is brimming with quaint brasseries, where you can savour a croque monsieur, a delicious onion soup, and top it off with a Paris-Brest dessert. 😋
Even better than a Neymar goal ⚽️, or a snapshot of Mona Lisa 🖼, the Parisian event is the Vredestein 20 km of Paris 🤗.
To be able to pick up your bib, you will need to bring the withdrawal slip that you will receive in your email a week before the event. Bib collection will take place at the Event Village during its opening hours. Please note, bibs cannot be collected on October 13th!
You can find your results on the official website of the 20 km de Paris. The provisional results will be available on Sunday afternoon, and you will need to wait up to a week to see the official results. Be aware that there is a maximum period of 4 days for any claims regarding the results.
Throughout your race, you will come across 3 refreshment stations located at km 6, km 10, and km 15, on tables on both sides of the road, as well as at the finish line. The menu includes water for hydration, as well as sugar and fruits.
Yes, a medical certificate is required to participate in the 20 km de Paris. However, this certificate can be replaced by a valid FFA license.
It is indeed possible to offer your services as a volunteer for the organization of the event. Many tasks are available on the day of the race as well as during the week preceding the event. Volunteer registration will open to the public around May-June via the organizer's site, which you can find by clicking this link. In appreciation, you will receive a package provided by the event's equipment sponsor.
Don't worry, you are indeed allowed to listen to the hottest tracks of the moment to help you churn out the kilometers, under your own responsibility, of course. However, organizers strongly advise against the use of earphones or headphones for obvious safety reasons. It is important to be able to listen to any instructions given at the start, along the course, and at the finish!
