The event in a few words

Welcome to the 51st edition of La Ciaspolada, taking place in January! The renowned snowshoe race makes its grand return to Fondo in Italy 🇮🇹.

Get ready to trek a beautiful 8 km snowy path through the Val di Non valley, at the foot of the stunning mountains of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, breathing in the fresh air of the Alps from Italy, Switzerland, and Austria 🏔️. La Ciaspolada offers competitive timings in the full-fledged version with the Malosco Fondo or a more fun, non-competitive version in Fondo. There's something for everyone! 😁 Surrounded by trail enthusiasts, are you ready to take on this challenge in the great outdoors 🌲, living a unique experience few have the chance to enjoy? ❄️

La Ciaspolada was born in 1972 from the clever mind of Alessandro Bertagnolli. Yes, he had a grand vision 🌟. Back then, as the president of the official tourism promotion agency for the Val di Non, Alessandro Bertagnolli was inspired by local hunters and farmers using snowshoes to move faster 💨. The idea was to make this tool more fun 🤔: Why not run with them and turn it into a snow race? 🤓 After a shaky start in 1973 that left many skeptical, the event gained momentum in the '90s with increasing curiosity, the promotional efforts of national figures, and televised coverage 📺 in nearly 100 countries, including Saudi Arabia (yes, really)!

What makes it extra special? Sure, the gear 🏸, but more so its breathtaking setting in northern Italy! 🏞️ After completing this snowy adventure, why not explore the region further? Just an hour's drive away, you can visit the charming city of Trento, with its stunning historical landmarks like the Castello del Buonconsiglio 🏰. You could also head to the sanctuary of San Romedio, a relic of medieval Italy that offers a breathtaking view of the valley and many tales 🧙‍♂️. And what would a stop in Italy be without savoring local delicacies 🍝, in the many quaint restaurants around or exploring the Dolomites 🏞️ with their hiking trails, perfect for extending your sporty getaway.

So don't miss this opportunity to combine sports, nature, and cultural discoveries! 🏃‍➡️
