Quiet on the set! 🎥
Let's head to Calvados, in the Normandy region, to partake in an incredible event that attracts finishers from around the globe 🌍. The event is set for November in the famous seaside resort of Deauville. While the sun usually shines, and the thermometer might say 28°C in the shade... Oops, wrong place! 😅 Here, in autumn 🍁, temperatures cool down, but it's still a perfect time to go full throttle 😉. Some might even argue it's ideal weather to tackle the famous International Marathon In Deauville. Be prepared for changing weather, including a bit of rain and wind between sunny spells 🌞, adding to the region's charm. Welcome to Normandy! ☂️
The organizers of the Marathon de Deauville offer 5 distances on the road. There's something for everyone, young and old. Starting with La Deauvillaise, a festive race 🥳 of 5 km open to both runners 🏃♀️ and walkers 🚶. Plus, it’s not timed—it's just for fun with family or friends 👬. Then, there's the 5 km route, perfect for setting new records ⏱. Doubling down like in the casino, next up is a 10 km event on an ultra-flat course, ideal for making the clock tick faster yet again! Then, onto the main events: the Deauville Half Marathon and, if you want to go the distance, the Marathon awaits. These are smooth courses where you can either challenge yourself or enjoy the run in an idyllic setting😍. For the marathon distance, you have the choice to complete it solo or as a relay team of 2 or 4 🤝. And it’s not just for adults! To top it off, there’s a race for kids 🎠 called Deauvi'kids on a 900 m course. We told you, it's an event for everyone👐.
While the stars of the American Film Festival will have already left, it’s your turn to put on your best outfit and shine! ✨ Whatever you choose, each course will take you through iconic locations and surrounding villages. The "Deauville Marathon" (said with an American accent, of course, cowboy 🤠) runs through Tourgéville, Benerville, and Saint-Arnoult. This 42.195 km journey takes you through picturesque countryside to immerse you in the beauties of Calvados. Remember to lift your head and enjoy the sea views 🌊. You'll wander through the city on pleasant routes, letting you discover Deauville's monuments. For an epic finish, no matter the distance you've chosen, you'll conclude on the majestic Deauville Boardwalk 🏖, cheered on by enthusiastic spectators. Note that the relays allow partners to run the final kilometer side by side on these famous boards, preventing any jealousy, in front of an ecstatic crowd 🤪. A fun challenge for you: try to spot as many movie star names as possible on the bath cabins. With some luck, Steven Spielberg 🎬 might step out of one to cheer or congratulate you. But don't get too carried away 😉.
After the race, make the most of your time in the city and all it has to offer. The beachside 👙 features luxurious palaces with traditional architecture like the Hôtel Barrière Le Normandy with its colorful facades. You'll also see the famous lifeguard huts, reminiscent of Miami 🇺🇸. It’s the perfect opportunity to stroll through the streets filled with upscale shops and historic villas, such as the splendid Villa Strassburger. Don’t miss out on the legendary Casino de Deauville. Under crystal chandeliers, your finisher medal will shine brightly 🏅. You can't leave the region without experiencing a horse race at the racecourse. It's a guaranteed spectacle! With your race and city exploration, you'll probably get hungry. Take the time to enjoy freshly caught scallops 🤤. And if you're a cheese lover, the Camembert from Normandy is a treat 🧀. Follow that with a little Normand break and then dive into a Normandy tart for dessert—you'll need the space! 😬
If you have some time left, head to the banks of the Touques, enjoying the region's fine cider 🍾 in peace. Consider returning to the villages you briefly passed during the race for a more thorough exploration. Head north along the coast to visit the stunning cliffs of Etretat and admire The Hollow Needle, cherished by Maurice Leblanc 🏞.
It's time for you to become the gentleman-Finisher! 👔
A legendary distance, with a route that's just as iconic!
Featuring a loop that you'll complete twice, the course starts on Rue de la Mer and winds through the charming streets of the Deauville city. You'll run past the city's iconic racecourse 🏇, before heading out to the surrounding communities. The route offers a mix of urban pathways and country roads, blending cityscapes and nature over the course of 42 km 🛞.
You'll have a chance to pass through Tourgéville, Benerville, and Saint-Arnoult before heading back towards the beach 🏖. A spectacular finish awaits you on the famous Deauville boardwalk! 🌠
The 42 km marathon might seem daunting, but you still want to be part of this amazing event? The organizers have you in mind with a 2-person relay option 🤝.
The race is divided into two loops of approximately 21 km each, giving both participants a chance to hit the track. You will experience the same breathtaking route, including the Hippodrome, Deauville, Tourgéville, Benerville, Saint Arnoult, and of course, the beach 🎭.
With an unbreakable bond, the final kilometer will be run together, hand in hand, for an unforgettable finish on the iconic Deauville boardwalk! 🏁
"The more, the merrier!" 😌
Whether with family or friends, you’re in for a day of shared excitement and challenges! Much like the Three Musketeers (yes, there were actually four of them 🙄), you and your relay team will navigate the famous course of the marathon passing the baton from one to the next.
Make sure you choose your running order wisely, as each leg varies in distance. The first runner will tackle 15 km starting from Rue de la Mer in Deauville. The second runner will take over for 7 km before handing off to the third, who will run nearly 14 km. Finally, the last leg is a thrilling 6 km sprint to the finish line along the iconic Deauville boardwalk 🚩.
If you were one of the previous three runners, you can join the final runner for the last kilometer and finish the race as a team of four!
Starting on rue de la Mer, you will navigate through the streets of Deauville, passing by the famous racecourse. Whether you're jogging or sprinting, you'll get the chance to explore the neighboring towns 🏇: Tourgéville, Benerville, and even Saint-Arnoult will become familiar terrain for you. Between cityscapes and countryside roads, trust us, you're in for some stunning scenery 😎. To top it all off, a long straight path along the seaside awaits you, leading to the finish line in front of the Deauville boardwalk.
Same route as the 5K, except this time, you'll complete the loop twice. You'll get to enjoy the stunning beach view for a significant portion of your run 🏖️. The course remains very flat, making it perfect for chasing a new personal best ⏱. Be careful, though; you have twice the distance to cover, so watch out for a fast start! Two loops mean double the fun, with the finish line right at the famous Deauville Boardwalk 🏁.
The Deauvillaise is a fun run covering a distance of 5 km 👍. Want to run? 🏃 No problem, you can sign up for it. Prefer to walk? No worries, you can join in too! 🚶 The goal of this event is to have fun, whether you're solo or with friends, on a flat and accessible route. The course will take you along the beach, and you'll finish on the famous Deauville boardwalk.
A flat course, perfect for setting new personal bests! ⏱ The route is a loop where you will run alongside the beach in a straight line for a large portion of the race. And like a star, the finish line awaits you on the famous Deauville boardwalk. Suitable for all levels, it's a great way to challenge yourself and have fun! 😎
There's no reason why the grown-ups should have all the glory! The younger runners deserve their moment to shine too ⭐️.
