Hallo and welcome to the Bijlmer Run! 🏃 For its 4th edition, you are set for a half marathon in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam 🚴. Nestled in North Holland 🖼️, in the Southeast districts, right near the heart of the Dutch capital, you're about to embark on a fresh event 👶 that's already gaining a lot of recognition ⭐. Although the half marathon of the Bijlmer Run is not as renowned as its big brother, the Mizuno Half Marathon, its reputation is growing, and it now sells out every year! 🤩 This race has a genuine story, crafted by running enthusiasts 👟. The founders, Charita Zandgrond and Yoshi Green, aimed to make the race appealing while revitalizing the image of the Bijlmermeer 🏙️ neighborhood. Mission accomplished! ✅ You'll get to explore authentic sites and the surroundings of Amsterdam 😌. It's a chance to enjoy a great time in a festive atmosphere, no matter the distance! 😁
Speaking of which! 🐺 3 road race distances are available: 5 km, 10 km, and 21.098 km, along with a 10 km team race, a 5 km walk, and a kids' course 🧒. Everyone will find something to enjoy! 🤗 As with all races in the Netherlands, the courses are flat and fast 🏎️. Starting from Anton de Komplein, you'll dive into an electric atmosphere 🥳 on a very diverse course. You've probably noticed that the race logo resembles a windmill's blades, with its four wings 🪽. More than a nod to the region, it's also the course outline for the Bijlmer Run half marathon! The circuit comprises four 5 km loops, each offering different aspects of the area: the Nelson Mandela Park 🌳, more urban areas, and cultural hotspots... 🎭 You won't have a moment to be bored! 😅 Plus, there are multiple cheer points along the way 👏. You'll never lack motivation during your race, as the crowd will be on fire! 🔥 There's even a party planned at Anton de Komplein with a music stage 🎶 and numerous food trucks to keep you fueled 😋.
As you've gathered, the Bijlmer Run is a true local race 😍. Come and experience the REAL Amsterdam for a weekend and a race! 🥰 You can enjoy the tranquility of Bijlmermeer and ride its many bike paths 🚲. If your legs are still energetic, you can even cycle to the center of Amsterdam and enjoy its must-see attractions: the Anne Frank House 🏠, the Van Gogh Museum 🎨, or the iconic Rijksmuseum 🖼️.
Consider yourself warned, the Bijlmer Run is a record-breaking race ⏱️, so it's going to be fast. Very fast 😉.
