👨✈️ The entire team at Finishers Airlines ✈️ is thrilled to welcome you aboard this flight towards the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona. Upon your arrival, expect an outdoor temperature of 15°C ☀️. The sky is forecasted to remain clear and sunny throughout your journey 😎 Welcome to Barcelona!
Come join us as we head towards the capital of Catalonia, in Spain 🇪🇸, for a truly unique and spectacular event ✨, which celebrates its 33rd anniversary 🎂 : the Barcelona Half Marathon. Taking place in February, this iconic race attracts over 23,000 participants from around the globe 🌏. Many Finishers come to tread the sunny streets of Gaudí’s city 🎨, aiming to overcome the legendary challenge of 21.0975 km. Here, not only will the course unveil some of the city's most beautiful monuments, but you'll find a fairly flat route 📏, through the heart of the city 💗 and along its seaside, awaiting you. And don’t worry: there’s no climbing up the Parc Güell involved 😮💨. In fact, the course is so flat it’s perfect for attempting to break the record of 58 minutes and 53 seconds set by Kenyan Charles Langat in 2023 🚀. Or, you might just try to beat your own record... That might be more feasible 😅.
Un, dos, tres - un pasito pa'lante María 🎵 -, let’s go! Your race will start in front of the magnificent Parc de la Ciutadella ⛲️, right in the city center 🌆. Then, you’ll race the first kilometers towards ➡️ Plaça Colom, where you can marvel at the famous Christopher Columbus Column 👀. Although, you won’t have time to take the elevator inside and enjoy the view over La Rambla, but you can always come back after the race 😉. Then, after a long straight stretch (you’ll soon understand why the Barcelona half marathon is famed for its speed 💨), you’ll glimpse the Plaça Espanya and its impressive arena, now transformed into a massive shopping center 🛍️. But there’s no time for shopping 🙅, as the next highlight is passing by El Arco del Triunfo 🏆, Spain’s own Triumphal Arch, located at km 7, which you’ll approach after a straight 2.5 km stretch. After a quick loop around the Parc de la Ciutadella 🌳, you’ll head down Carrer del Perú, from where you’ll see the Torre Glories 👆.
A new straight path will give you the chance to sprint, leading you to Rambla Prim. At the end of it, stands the Edifici Fòrum, a striking triangular building 📐, situated by the seaside 🌊. No time for a dip! 🏊 Besides, it won’t be warmer than 15°C! 😂 You’ll make a quick detour along Diagonal Street before returning to the Forum 📍 and hugging the coastline for nearly 4 km, along the Passeig Garcia Faria and the Avenue du Litoral 🏃♀️. At the end of the promenade, the famous skyscrapers of Barcelona, the Tour Mapfre and its cousin the Tour Hôtel Arts will come into view. By then, you’re almost done, with just one last kilometer to go before crossing the finish line 🏁 at the entrance of the Parc de la Ciutadella! 😻 What? Over already? 😳 Yes, this Barcelona half-marathon will fly by! Nearly 13 associations and 650 volunteers will be there to cheer you on 👏, with no less than 24 stands to motivate you with Barcelona vibes 💃.
So, what’s the plan afterwards? Because yes, running the 21 km of Barcelona is great, but you might as well take the chance to explore the city! 😌 Among the must-sees, you simply must visit the Sagrada Família, Gaudí’s famous basilica, the Parc Güell, a marvelous place combining architecture and nature, and the Port Olímpic marina ⚓️ and its beaches 🏖. Of course, you can’t leave the Catalan capital without trying some of its culinary specialties 😋.
Don’t forget your running shoes and get ready for landing! 👟
