The 14th edition of the Maxi-Race of Lake Annecy will take place from May 31 to June 2, 2024. This event promises an exhilarating spectacle featuring some of the best trail and mountain runners in Europe. A total of 2,274 runners will hit the trails of Annecy, but who are the favorites for the Maxi-Race 2024 Tour of the Lake? Here are the key details you need to follow this must-see event.
Aurélien Dunand Pallaz (UTMB index 896), twice runner-up, returns for his third year. Winner of the Hardrock and the Diagonale des Fous in 2023, he's a formidable competitor.
Baptiste Chassagne (UTMB index 875), who finished 10th at the UTMB 2023 and 3rd at the SaintéLyon 2023, is also in the running.
Making his debut in this race, Mathieu Blanchard (UTMB index 905), 2nd at the UTMB 2022, and Thibaut Garrivier (UTMB index 907), winner of the Marathon Race 2021 and 6th at the UTMB 2023, are ones to watch.
Camille Bruyas (UTMB index 769), 2nd at the Diagonale des Fous 2023 and recently 1st at the Penyagolosa Trails in Spain, will be competing.
Fiona Porte (UTMB index 743), winner in 2023, and Candice Fertin (UTMB index 751), 9th at the Grand Trail des Templiers 2023, are also in the mix.

Let's highlight the different races from kids' events to the ultra marathon 😵💫.
- The first race of the weekend kicks off Friday at 7 PM, with distances ranging from 50 to 900m for children born between 2014 and 2021.
- 94 km, 5200m elevation gain, starting Saturday from 4:45 AM
- 58 km, 3500m elevation gain, starting Sunday from 5:20 AM
Also known as the Short-Race for men and the Femina-Race for women.
- 16 km, 1000m elevation gain, starting Sunday from 8:30 AM for the Short Race men only and 8:40 AM for the Femina Race for women only
- 42 km, 2375m elevation gain, starting Sunday from 11:00 AM.
These routes cover three mountain ranges: Semnoz, Tournette, and Mont Veyrier, offering breathtaking views of the Annecy basin.
Note that the Maxi-Race is part of the Salomon MaXi Trail Series Europe, which aims to introduce runners to exceptional regions. This series includes three races: MaXi-Race Annecy, MaXi-Race Sicily, and MaXi-Race Madeira.
Don't forget, from Friday to Sunday, the Maxi-Race will host the European Off-Road Championships, featuring athletes from 29 nations. This is the fourth time since 2011 that the Maxi-Race has hosted an international competition.
