We can't promise you 99 Marathons 🎶, but Germany has no shortage of 42.195km races. Let's take a quick tour of the most beautiful German marathons! 🇩🇪
Marathons in Germany 🇩🇪, where to begin... Certainly with the largest, the Berlin Marathon. One of the most famous races worldwide (if not the most famous) 🌟. It is currently one of the 6 “World Marathon Majors”, meaning one of the 6 most sought-after marathons globally 🗺️. That's quite something. Berlin means: 40,000 participants, a flat and fast course, world records 🏆 (including the legendary Eliud Kipchoge (2022) with a time of 2:01:09s 🏅) and finishing under the Brandenburg Gate 🏛️ as the grand finale. Truly legendary!
Speaking of finishes, we must mention the Frankfurt Marathon, ending in the heart of the Festhalle. This magnificent dome, built in 1907, is today one of Europe's most renowned concert halls 🎸. The course will let you explore Frankfurt, from the beautiful Nordend district ♒ to the Main riverbanks ♒.
If you're looking to run in an unconventional city, we recommend the Hamburg Marathon. Starting from the historic St. Pauli red-light district, the route will take you through Speicherstadt, one of the largest warehouse districts in the world. Besides this open-air museum, the 30,000 participants can count on the orchestras' support throughout the race 🥁.
From the start, we've been talking about events located in northern Germany, but we can't overlook the Munich Marathon. Held in October, it offers runners a course that blends modernity and history 📖, passing through iconic sites in the Bavarian capital, including the Olympic Stadium where the finish line awaits.
Germany 🇩🇪 is indeed a prime destination for marathon runners. Unfortunately, we can't mention them all, but events like the Cologne Marathon, the Bremen Marathon, or the Black Forest Marathon, are must-see events.
