Marathon des Terroirs du Valais BCVS
In Switzerland 🇨🇭, Valais is a highly sought-after region by our Italian 🇮🇹 neighbors, many of whom live in this canton in the south of the country! And it's clear why, given the stunning landscapes 😍. We start from the capital city, Sion, following the Rhône Valley towards Lake Geneva 🚣♀️. We stop at Martigny for the Marathon des terroirs du Valais BCVS, an unmissable event on this year's road racing calendar! The second-largest city in the canton annually hosts many runners on the track starting from Martigny. You'll see firsthand (if you're smart enough to take our advice and register) that the atmosphere will be truly festive, with races even allowing participants to wear costumes. So, what will you choose to be in May captain? 👨🚒
The event is not just a sporting meet 💪 but also a feast for food lovers 🍽️ and a celebration 🎉. You have the option to participate in four races including 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km, as well as a 10 km discovery walk. Children are also pampered with 2 races just for them! 👧 They surely know how to make us happy 😏. There’s something for everyone, whether you're looking for a fun family outing or a day with friends! Plus, all offered routes are suitable for athletes with disabilities 👨🦽. At the end of the race, a zany section will keep the energy high as you conquer those final kilometers! 🤪
Enjoy running through vineyards 🍇, orchards 🍎, the banks of the Rhône, and all the stunning landscapes of the Valais plain, surrounded by mountains 🏔 that watch over your every step. The gentle terrain promises minimal elevation, making it ideal for good performances ⏱️ and accessible to both freestylers and handisport athletes. With such a vibrant gathering, how could you resist donning a costume! 👔 Here's another exciting offer from the organizers of the Marathon des terroirs du Valais BCVS: this marathon can be run as an Ekiden (a 6-person relay 🤝). Born in Japan 🇯🇵 in 1917, this discipline has become popular in Europe, as shown by this year's calendar 👊. If you wish to keep the party going with friends, it’s all set up for you! ☝️ Dressed in your finest "Super Hero" costume 🦸♂️, join the Gueul'thon to refuel post-race, and then burn off those calories at the Maratho’night 🪩. This year, the "Mascott'run" will see club, company, and organization mascots compete on a 400 m course 😎.
If you’ve never crossed the border into the world's most neutral country, get ready to experience a multicultural nation with a rich and varied natural heritage... 🌆🌳 Like the Jura and Alps mountains surrounding the country. Fans of mountains, hiking, and skiing will also fall in love with Valais! This canton is home to the Dufourspitze, rising to an altitude of 4,634 m, the highest in Switzerland and the second-highest in the Alps, after Mont Blanc 🤯. If you want to explore one of the 4 main cities in the country (and we’re sure you will 😬), all vibrant and interesting to visit, Geneva, Lausanne, Bern, and Zurich are easily accessible. They all lie on the Swiss Plateau, which spans the country from east to west.
And don’t forget us! We love chocolate here at Finishers 🍫.
The marathon features just 95m of elevation gain, so get ready for a speedy race! ⚡️

The little runners haven’t been left out as 2 kids/junior races are offered: 2.5 km and 1.5 km. Both courses take participants through the beautiful town of Martigny and feature almost no elevation change. Perfect for the small strides of these future athletes! However, some young athletes might not yet be ready to dive in alone, which is why an adult can accompany the little ones who wish to participate in one of the two races with a parent. The races will start at 3 PM.
