The largest metropolis in Australia, aka Sydney, invites you to a unique and festive atmosphere that only happens once a year ๐.
This year, for the 25th edition, the city is organizing its most iconic road race: the Sydney Marathon! It will take place in September, in this exceptional setting on the other side of the world ๐.
Whether you are a beginner or experienced runner, come and pound the streets of this cosmopolitan city filled with vibrant colors and music, alongside more than 40,000 other participants! Experience the excitement of this metropolis where it's great to soak up its good vibes... (Iโm pickinโ up good vibrations sang the Beach Boys ๐) Enjoy its summery mood... Between the sun and the sea breeze, the beautiful Australian city offers rather mild and pleasant weather for running! The Sydney Marathon, which also includes a 10 km and a 4.2 km race, will extend your summer โ.
Founded in 1788, Sydney is now one of the most visited cities in the world. And itโs no wonder when you see the scenery! ๐ Created in 1999 as a prelude to the 2000 Sydney Olympics, this marathon has become one of the main events in the runnersโ calendar. And this year, the Sydney Marathon is in the running for the Abbott World Marathon Majors ๐.
And why not do some sightseeing? ๐ค
Before or after your race, explore the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge ๐ to the north of the city. By the way, we advise against climbing it like young Kenneth Jones did in 1932, scaling those 134 meters with his bare hands... Just a precaution ๐ค. Then, stroll through the The Rocks neighborhood with its streets filled with historical anecdotes, dating back to the arrival of British settlers in the 18th century. Pass by the renowned Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA). Opened in 1991, this famous contemporary art museum boasts nearly 4,000 works in its permanent collection! Also, check out the Sydney Cricket Ground and the Allianz Stadium (formerly the Aussie Stadium). These are monuments of Australian sport. The first is the iconic stadium of the New South Wales cricket team ๐. The stadium also hosts many rugby matches, the national sport! ๐ And don't miss St Maryโs Cathedral โช๏ธ. Built by Sydney's Catholic community in 1868 in honor of the Virgin Mary. You'll have the chance to see it at the end of your marathon. It will take your breath away one last time before your finish. But how can we talk about Sydney without mentioning the iconic Opera House? Designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon, who won an international design competition in 1957. It was completed by an Australian architectural team led by Peter Hall and officially opened on 20 October 1973, 16 years after Utzon's initial selection.
So if you feel like it, these spots are just waiting to be explored before or after the Sydney Marathon! Admit it... You can already see yourself there! ๐
