Another beautiful race to run on Moroccan soil Moroccan 🇲🇦.
Finishers always offer the most enticing destinations. This time we find ourselves in the spiritual capital of Morocco! ⭐ Never heard of it? Yes, we're talking about Fes! The city will host its next edition of the Noor Fes Half Marathon 👑. So alongside the road race of 21 km, the event also allows you to participate in a 10 km race, isn't that great? 🔥
Let us tell you a little more about the environment you will run in: Fes is a large city in Morocco, famous for its stories and legends 🔮. Want to hear one about its name? Back in the day when the city was founded, Idris I took part in creating the city 🎆. Now you might wonder, how exactly do you create a city? Well, it's simple, you start by digging! ⚒️ And that's what he did! But not with just anything; in fact, he began digging the foundations with a pickaxe made of gold and silver 💎, which gave the city its name, as the Arabic word for pickaxe is Fes 🤓. Of course, it's a popular legend. But it adds a certain charm, and it's always nice to know a bit about the stories of the places we visit! 📚
We can tell you another story, this time both true and closely linked to the International Noor Fes Half Marathon 🤠. The race is organized in honor of the World Olive Day, زيتون (zaytun)! 🌳 It’s the Olive Festival at the Heart, presenting the event on the same day as this special celebration! 🍈 Rest assured, they won't be replacing the water at refreshment stations with olive oil 🥤, but it's your chance to discover a new culture and its traditions! ⚡
Moreover, this half marathon supports the Centre Kan Ya Makan, which works to reintegrate young people in difficulty through vocational and artistic training. By participating, each runner symbolically contributes to the support of this social cause 🎗️.
The half marathon and the 10 km race will have you run through emblematic locations in the city. The new city will be your playground for much of the race, but you will also run through the Méchouar district and its large green space 🌱, close to the Royal Palace! 🏰 During your stay, you'll find that the city has an impressive historical past 📰. You can always go to the medina, a place that will immerse you directly in the local culture with its numerous shops and restaurants where you can taste just delicious traditional dishes! 🥙 Fancy a bit of nature? The Bou Inania Gardens are perfect for a relaxing and rejuvenating stroll 🚶♀️. For a total getaway, the city of Meknes, less than an hour's drive away, offers you monumental gates and sumptuous palaces.
So don't wait any longer and fly to the Noor Fes Half Marathon, a sporting and cultural adventure! 😎
