Will you dare to come (or come back) and tackle the slopes of the "Géant de Provence"? 🦶 Like a solitary mountain, it stands tall in the heart ❤️ of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur ☀️, in the Vaucluse region. This legendary, even mythical summit, highly appreciated by cyclists for its difficulty, awaits you for the Mont-Ventoux Kookabarra Half Marathon! 🏔
Feeling that adrenaline rush? 🦵 Let's get straight to the point ! One distance 👆, and it's no small feat: 21.6 km with 1,610 meters of vertical gain 📈. A formidable climb awaits you, with average slopes of 7.5% that can reach up to 11.5% 😮. There will be little reprieve ! You'll need to have a strong heart 🥲. Plus, it will be the middle of July, so expect some intense heat! Don't forget to bring water and energy bars to avoid hitting the wall 🤒.
But keep your feet on the ground, because the wind is no joke up there: gusts have been recorded at over 300 km/h! 🌬️ It’s like being caught in a Christopher Froome acceleration! 😂 No wonder our good old Ventoux is bald! 👩🦲 Yes, you've probably noticed the white limestone at the summit. It's completely devoid of greenery, earning it the nickname "Bald Mountain".
We almost forgot to talk about the food! 🍴 In the South of France during the summer, it's a feast for your eyes and taste buds 😍: check out the vibrant colors of la bohémienne, a blend of Provençal herbs in caillettes 🤤. For something sweet, there’s nothing like quince 🍏 or oreillettes.
The Mont Ventoux Half Marathon will start on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 8 a.m.
Runners' bags must be dropped off at the school parking lot at least 1 hour before the race starts and will be transported to the designated area at the finish line. You can retrieve your belongings by showing your race bib.
The maximum race time is set at 3 hours 40 minutes. Beyond this, arriving runners will not be classified. Cut-off times will be specified on race day based on local authorization requirements.
Note: There is a cut-off point at Chalet Reynard (km 15). Participants have 2 hours 30 minutes to reach this aid station. The organization will remove the bibs of any participants who haven't reached this checkpoint in time and declines any responsibility for those wishing to continue. Participants stopped at Chalet Reynard can wait for the first shuttle to take them back to the village of Bédoin. The aid station at the summit and the shuttle buses are scheduled in accordance with these cut-off times. Participants who are late and choose to continue may find the summit aid station packed up and will need to arrange their own transportation back to Bédoin.
There are four aid stations along the route:
km 6: Drinks
km 11: Drinks and Snacks
km 15: Drinks and Snacks
km 18: Drinks
Finish: Drinks and Snacks (+ one complimentary beer per participant)
Each participant will receive a race package when picking up their bib and a finisher's medal after crossing the finish line.
