Ready to come party in running mode in Rhône? 🎉
On the heights of Lyon, well-surrounded by the Rhône (the river this time) and the Saône 🌊, the LUT by Night offers to keep you energized all night long! 🌝 Even if the temperatures are cool in November ❄️, after a thorough warm-up, you'll be on fire! 🔥 It's time to rock the dancefloor on the pavement with this beautiful Lyon urban trail! 🦁
Get ready for a crazy night (you can read the rest with the song in your head 😆)! The City of Lights will shine brightly through the night 🎶. Three new tracks of dance race await you for this 11th edition of the Lyon Urban Trail by Night ! 🎉 In the heart of the capital of Gaul, under the starlight 🌟 (or mostly your headlamp 🔦), you can enjoy the magical atmosphere of the city over 10 km, 20 km, or 30 km in stopwatch mode ⏱️. And because the night is also made for partying 🥳, an 10 km 👻 non-timed option is available. Certainly, the midnight trail runners 🕛 will lead you into the wee hours! 😅
It's on the right bank of the Saône that this show will take place, not to be missed under any circumstances! During your urban trail, you'll make Place Saint-Jean ⛪ and rue Tramassac shake before significantly increasing the heat on the Lyon heights 👆, step by step, up to the iconic hill of Fourvière! There, you can unleash your best moonwalks 🕺 on its typical small cobbled streets 👟. Don't stop till you get enough sang the King of Pop! 🎤 And because this year the event celebrates its first decade 🎂, it's not just the distances that change… The routes are also getting a makeover! 😯 Like an actor in the shoes of a trail runner 👟, you'll start in the mythical Roman Theatre of Fourvière, on the stage of the great amphitheater 🎭. The fever will be at its peak, even your headlamp might literally explode! 💡 For your finish, you'll have the chance to receive a hill (of Fourvière) of cheers from the ecstatic crowd at the foot of the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-Fourvière ⛪, with a magical view overlooking all of Lyon 🤩.
After your race, in the morning you won't have a hangover 🪵. However, you are likely to face sore muscles! 😂 So, to avoid painful aftermaths, reward your efforts by tasting Lyon specialties in THE capital of French gastronomy 🍽️. It starts with a piece of pâté-croute and Saint-Marcellin (yes it's true, this good soft cheese 🧀 actually comes from Isère, Drôme, or Savoie 😋), before finishing with a cushion of Lyon for a sweeter note composed of a chocolate ganache wrapped in marzipan and flavored with Curaçao 🤤. Quite the end (of the night)! 😜
Come heat up the mercury 🌡️ to the maximum and unleash your best moves on the LUT by Night 🕺!
Start for the 30 km of LUT by Night!
Starting at the Place des Minimes, you can build up momentum during the first 2 downhill kilometers 📉. Be careful not to burn out right from the start! 😅 You will reach the St-Jean Cathedral and head towards the quays to cross to the other bank via the Alphonse Juin Bridge 🌉. Following are 2 flat kilometers, take the opportunity to find your rhythm, there won't be much respite for the rest of the course! 😬 You will cross the Rhône again on the M6 Viaduct and head to the hill of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon using the paths and small streets 🛣️. At km 7, you will go down to the Maison de la Cadière and the Parc Chabrières-Arlès in Oullins 🌳.
The respite will be short-lived (we warned you 🤓), you will go to the City Aventure of Lyon-Sainte-Foy 🪂. Too bad, you won't be able to stop and have fun there, but at least now you know how to get there! 🗺️ You will stay on the heights of Sainte-Foy and wander the paths by the light of your headlamp 💡. At km 18, you will reach the Fort de Sainte-Foy, the Parc du Brûlet and continue to the Museum of the New Franco-Chinese Institute 🧧. You'll be at km 20, only 10 more to the finish! 💪
But before that, there's a final very hilly section. From Saint-Just, you'll descend to the Fort de Vaise 🏰 then onto Quai Chaveau, go up to the Station du Centenaire, and go down to the Quai Pierre-Scize. Catch your breath before the final sequence... 💨 and it's a big one! 🥵 You'll climb above the École Sainte-Marie-La Solitude, go down, to scale the relentless piste de la Sarra ⛷️. You'll need to hang on, push in the last descent to the Saint-Paul station and give it your all in the last ascent to the Roman Theatres! 🎭
A course worthy of the greatest roller coasters! 🎢
To conquer this 20 km, you will need to hang in there! 💪
If you've always dreamed of a nighttime 🌙 sightseeing tour, you're in the right place! 😉 Starting from the Place des Minimes, you'll head towards the Saint-Jean Cathedral ⛪️. Yes, we do say head off, because the first two kilometers are downhill! 📉 Be careful not to trip right from the start 😅. You'll cross the Alphonse Juin Bridge to enjoy 2 km along the Rhône quays, under the watchful eye of the Basilica of Fourvière ✝️. Once you reach the Viaduct of the M6, it will be time to climb! 📈
Starting from km 4, you'll be trotting along the trails of the hill of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon! ⬆️ You'll go up to the Esplanade Lichfield and will climb to the Fort de Sainte-Foy and the Parc Brûlet 🌳. You'll trace your path to Saint-Just, descend to the Fort de Vaise 🏰 and along the quays 🌊. Hang in there, you'll face a succession of climbs and descents until the finish! You'll need to climb the Sarra track ⛷️, to descend to the Saint-Paul station... to climb again and cross the finish line at the Roman Theaters! 🏁
Well done, you'll have watched over sleeping Lyon during a lap around! 🔦
