You might already be familiar with the Athens Half Marathon, but have you heard of the Poseidon Athens Half Marathon? 🤔 No worries if you haven't, we're here to introduce you to this Athenian race that rivals the grandeur of a Greek God! ⚡ At the end of April, you'll head to Athens and the Faliro Bay. From the port of Flisvos to the National Opera and the Ilisos River, you'll discover the capital of Greece from a new perspective 📐. It’s no coincidence the race is named after Poseidon, as you'll be running close to the water 🌊. Rest assured, this isn’t a triathlon! 🏊♂️ From the docks, you'll enjoy stunning views of the sea, all without getting wet... 🤩 Perhaps not entirely dry, though, as you might find yourself sweating quite a bit! 🥵
"On the Poseidon Half Marathon, you’ll go full throttle" 🚀. What’s that? You don’t know this Greek saying? 🤯 It's time to get informed, because here you can set a record time! ⏱️ With several distances to choose from, there’s no chance of getting bored! Whether you're a casual runner or an athlete seeking to push limits 💪, there’s something for everyone (or every trident, if your name happens to be Poseidon 🔱). From a kids' race to a charity run of 1 to 2 km, to 5 km and 10 km on the road, up to the prestigious Half Marathon 🏆, you'll have the chance to run along the shores of the Aegean Sea, all under the sunny skies! 🌞 Because Greece without the sun isn’t really Greece! So make sure to pack your sunscreen if you don't want to end up red as a lobster 🦐.
After you cross the finish line 🏁, you can kick back on the beach and relax! 👣 We all know recovery is key! 💆♀️ So after pushing your limits during the race, why not also take in the historical and cultural wonders of the Greek capital? 🤓 Visit the Acropolis and its museum for an ancient history dive 📖, or stroll through the charming neighborhood of Pláka 🏘️, with its narrow streets and local taverns 🍽️. If you prefer nature, a trip to Cape Sounion to admire the famous Temple of Poseidon (yes, the one and only) at sunset is a must 🌅.
So lace up your shoes, sharpen your trident, and head to the starting line of the Athens Poseidon Half Marathon! 😉
