In this country, nomadic culture is prevalent, and you'll have a chance to experience it with your running shoes on! 👟 During the Almaty Half Marathon, you'll get to explore one of the country's largest cities at your own pace! 🏃➡️ This road race takes place in April, so get ready for picturesque landscapes among the flower-filled streets 🌺 of this garden city 🌳. You won't be running alone 🚩, as 10,000 participants from over 20 countries 🌍 gather here every year! 🗓️ The organizers aimed to popularize running in the country, and they've succeeded! 💪 By creating the Almaty Marathon in 2012, the first major running event in Central Asia 📍, it has become an international event attracting thousands of participants worldwide, and the half marathon followed in its footsteps! 🤩
Now that you know more about this event 🤓, let's dive into the courses! 🛣️ There's more than just a half marathon on the agenda ☝️. You can also choose to compete in the Ekiden format (relay with 6 people) 🤝, run a 10 km, or participate in a Nordic walk for 10 km 🥾. The courses will take you through the heart of Almaty. Just like a guided tour 🚌, you'll pass by the First President's Park and other must-see monuments 🏛️. And the cherry on top! 🍒 The courses are free of turns and elevation changes, so you can really fly! 🚀
And because you'll be too quick to fully enjoy the local architecture 😅, why not extend your stay? 🧳 You can wander through the streets of Almaty, where modern culture meets Kazakh traditions 🐎 for an unforgettable experience 🤩. Just an hour from Almaty, dive into the incredible beauty of the national park at Sharyn Canyon! 🏞️ Its spectacular rock formations will make you feel like you're on another planet ✨. Want to soak up some local history? Visit Medeu, the world's highest mountain skating rink! ⛸️ And for some well-deserved relaxation, the Lake Issyk offers breathtaking scenery, perfect for ending on a high note! 🥰
