10 km du Panthéon

The event in a few words

"May returns, and the world is in celebration", wrote Victor Hugo. And he wasn't wrong! It's in the month of May 🌸 that you'll have the opportunity to honor this literary giant by lacing up your running shoes! 👟 But also to honor other great women and men... ☝️ Here’s more: the 10 km of the Panthéon is a unique chance to blend culture 📚 and sport in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, aka Paris ✨. Running through the 5th arrondissement of Paname means running through History. These grand 10 km are part of the Paris Masters Series, which is essentially a list of the 10k races in Paris! 🗼

In its first edition, the route starts from the Place du Panthéon, passing by The Sorbonne, the Jardin des Plantes, the Institute of the Arab World, and the College of France (providing plenty of opportunities to jot down notes between strides to impress your friends at dinner parties 😉). The course has been designed for road racing enthusiasts 🏃, those who want to push their limits while immersing themselves in the fascinating history of Paris! And as you might have guessed, beyond a mere sports challenge, there’s an homage to the women and men who have changed the course of World History 🌍, such as Marie Curie, Simone Veil, Louis Braille, Joséphine Baker, and Jean Moulin. So, gather to savor every kilometer and enjoy an unforgettable experience centered on self-improvement and wonder 🌟. In fact, the Panthéon was a project born from the wish of Louis XV 👑, or almost... Construction began in 1757 and finished in 1790, taking almost 30 years of hard work! 🚧 Initially, it was a church: the Church of Saint-Genevieve ⛪️. During the French Revolution 🇫🇷, the National Assembly decided to transform the building into a Panthéon, to gather and not forget the great men of the nation ☝️. Hence the famous inscription "To great men, the grateful homeland" engraved on its pediment ✍️.

Alright, we agree that you won't take two days to run these 10 km... So why not enjoy the capital a bit more, especially its Latin Quarter? Here are some ideas to extend your day in this district, which will surprise you more than once! 😜 Head to Place Saint-Michel, where street concerts 🎸 and open-air dancing are often happening (perfect for post-run relaxation) 💃. Then, wander through rue Saint-André des Arts and rue de la Huchette, evoking medieval Paris 🏰 with their cobblestones, pubs 🍻, and courtyards 🌳. For a bit more peace and greenery, visit square René Viviani, which might remind you of the sets from the series Netflix's Bridgerton 🪻, offering a splendid view of our beautiful Notre Dame Cathedral! 😍 Not far from the Panthéon, visit The Sorbonne, one of the most renowned academic institutions in the world for its contributions to research and intellectual influence 🧐. We can't promise you'll come out with Einstein's IQ 🧠 after just one visit, though 😂. End your charming walk with a visit to the Mosque of Paris 🕌, dating back to 1920! Topped with a 33-meter minaret, it offers, with its patio, minty tea salon, and hammam, a true haven of peace with jasmine scents 😌.

So, are you ready for the 10 km of the Panthéon? Because it's much more than just a race: it's an adventure to share, a challenge to overcome, and a city that will make you fall in love! ❤️
